What Governance Frameworks Must Address in Practice

The AI Governance Index 2025 found that only 9% of UK organisations report strong alignment between IT leadership and governance oversight, while 19% have no designated ownership at all. Where AI is touching client data, billing records, and operational systems simultaneously, that absence is a structural problem. Governance cannot default to the IT team alone; it requires a named individual with clear authority to act when a system behaves outside expected parameters.
